Dr Dre To Release A Dance Track???

An Akon interview with AP, speaking on Lady Gaga's success and how it is leaking into the hip-hop world:

"That's what excited me about it. You got some straight hard hip-hop guys about to move into the dance realm. That's shocking when you got someone like Dr. Dre about to do a dance record."

"It actually sounds great. He played it for me, I was shocked. So I was like 'Wow, that's dope!' When the world hears this they might go crazy!"

Uzee> This is another hint that Dre is actually going towards a new direction musically. So far you the voters have voted 50-50 of either a west coast sound or a brand new sound for Detox. If you haven't on the poll yet then do so, on the right of this page.

Dr Dre sues Suge Knight

Dr. Dre sued the new iteration of Death Row Records on Thursday claiming the label failed to pay royalties and released a new version of his iconic album "The Chronic" without his permission.

Dre, whose real name is Andre Young, filed the suit in federal court in Los Angeles against WIDEawake Death Row Records and its parent companies.

Young has not been paid royalties on the original "The Chronic" album since he split with Death Row in 1996, the lawsuit states. The label, a one-time powerhouse of rap music artists, eventually fell into bankruptcy but was bought by WIDEawake and re-formed.

Young's lawsuit claims his attorneys notified the new owners that he was owed royalties, but they have never paid him. He also claims the label issued "The Chronic Re-Lit" and a greatest hits collection without his permission or the proper rights.

WIDEawake Death Row Records has also sold digital copies of "The Chronic" without having the proper rights, the lawsuit states. Young's original contract with Death Row didn't include digital distribution rights, according to the suit.

"When it came to paying artist royalties and honoring limits on Dr. Dre recordings that could be released, the "new" Death Row Records, to quote our client, 'forgot about Dre,'" Young's attorney Howard King said in a statement. "This lawsuit will make sure they remember."

An after-hours phone message left for Wide Awake was not immediately returned.

Young's lawsuit seeks unspecified damages of more than $75,000 for several claims, including breach of contract, false advertising, trademark infringement and misappropriation of publicity.

"The Chronic" was first released in 1992. Since then, Young has remained a top rap producer working with best-selling artists such as Snoop Dogg, Eminem and 50 Cent.

Game talks Ashanti collaboration and Dre

Just a few years ago, the Game was throwing straight lava at Ja Rule, Irv Gotti, Ashanti and the rest of Murder Inc. during the G-Unit wars with "the world's most talented record label." Since leaving the Unit, Game has become friends with Ja and Irv and even recently collaborated with Ashanti on a track for his upcoming The R.E.D. Album. Dr. Dre, who produced the track, suggested the pairing.

"Hey, man, it's 'No beef 2010.' That's the trending topic on this interview, man," Game laughed. "Dre called me and he was like, 'You got any current-day problems with Ashanti?' I was like, 'Nah. I ain't got no problems with Ashanti.' She can sing like mutha----a and you put her on a hook, it's automatically radio. So he was like, 'I'mma have her come down.' "

Within an hour, Game, Dre and Ashanti where in the studio working on music.

"Dre was going through beats and I picked one. I was like, 'Let's try her on this hook.' Me and Ashanti wrote the hook, I went in on the verses and that was it," he explained. "The song me and Ashanti did, it don't even have a name for it yet. It's crazy. We just did that a week ago and I ain't even name it."

Ashanti seemed excited about the record as well, posting a photo from the session on her Twitter page.

"Awwwwwww sh-- it's a problem!!!!!" she wrote. "Me DRE & GAME in the lab ohhhhhhh booooooy this is a SMMMMIZAAASHHH!!!!!"
